    Upgrading the DRM Security Component

To reset the DRM component in your system, you may want to try any of the following steps:

    1) Reset the ActiveX control to allow MOBTV access to execute ActiveX controls.

    a. Launch Internet Explorer. Click on Tools menu, and select "Internet Options"

    b. Go to the "Security" tab, and select the "Internet" icon which looks like a globe. Then click the "Custom Level" button.

    c. A Security Settings box will open, with ActiveX controls and plug-ins as the first header.  Select the following choices.

From the 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins' section

        - Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt

        - Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disabled

    - Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe: Disabled

    From the Scripting section:

    - Active Scripting: Enable.

    d. Click OK to accept the changes.

    2) Reset the Windows Media DRM by renaming the Windows Media DRM folder. Note that the Windows Media DRM folder is a hidden system folder. To view hidden files and folders, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, and then click My Computer.

    b. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.

    c. Click "Show hidden files and folders".

    d. Untick (clear) the "Hide protected operating system files" check box.

The following are the typical locations of the Windows Media DRM folder, depending on your operating system version:

    • Windows Vista/Windows 7:  C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM

    • Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM

    e. Rename the DRM folder as "DRM_001".

If you are unable to locate the DRM folder, repeat steps 2(b) - 2(d) again. If you still cannot locate the DRM folder, then do a system search.  For example, in Windows XP, click START > Search > All files and folders. Then type 'DRM' and click the 'Search' button.

    3) Download a 3rd-party DRM Reset * utility to automatically reset the DRM registry in your system.

    a. download the utility at: http://www.netflix.com/pages/previews/resetdrm.exe

    b. run the utility, and upon completion, reboot your system.

    * As in any 3rd-party software, the link to the file is provided as a convenience to our customers. As the software is not developed by us, MOBTV do not provide support on the use of the software.

Note: On a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system, you must run Internet Explorer as an administrator. To do this, follow these steps:

    a.  Click Start, and then click All Programs.

    b.  Right-click Internet Explorer, and then click Run as Administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

    4) For normal DRM update, download and install the Windows Media DRM component at:

    http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp?force=1

If you receive error message like "The file that you are trying to use requires a software component on your computer to be upgraded....", then click on this link instead: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=75378

    a. If there is a message "This website wants to install the following add-on: ‘mf’ from Microsoft Corporation.  If you trust the website and the add-on and want to install it, click here.” displayed on the Info Bar at the top of your browser window, click on this Info Bar and a drop-down menu will be displayed.  Click on “Install Active-X Control’ option.

    b. Once install, click the 'Upgrade' button to continue.

    c. restart your system

    5) If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, do ensure the "Protected Mode" setting is disabled when accessing MOBTV and Microsoft sites - http://www.mobtv.sg/CS/forums/thread/3038.aspx

    6) Reset the Windows Media Player as the default player program.

    If you’re using Windows XP:

    a) Click START > Set Program Access and Defaults > Custom

    b) From the 'Choose a default media player' section, select 'Windows Media Player' as the default player

    c) Click OK

    If you’re using Windows Vista/Windows 7:

    a) Click the Windows START icon on the bottom left

    b) Click Default Program > Set your Default Program

    c) Select Windows Media Player > Set this program as default

    d) Click OK and then close the window.

    7) Try downloading, streaming or play back the specific MOBTV content again. If the problem has been resolved, you may delete the DRM_001 folder.
